New Joint Co-ordinating Editor for Cochrane PaPaS: Dr Neil O'Connell

We are delighted to introduce the new Cochrane Pain, Palliative and Supportive Care (PaPaS) new Joint Co-ordinating Editor, Dr Neil O’Connell. 

Dr Neil O’Connell is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Brunel University, London, UK. He is the author of 16 Cochrane Reviews and has been a PaPaS Editor since 2015. He divides his time between research and teaching and previously worked clinically as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist. Neil's research interests focus on the evidence based management of persistent pain and he has published extensively in this area including a number of Cochrane reviews. At Brunel he leads and teaches modules in the principles and practice of evidence based healthcare for pre- and post-graduate clinicians. Neil was a member of the Guideline Development Group for the UK's National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) 2016 guideline for the management of low back pain and sciatica, and was a specialist committee member for the NICE Quality Standard on that topic. He was also senior commissioning editor and wrote extensively for the popular pain science blog Body in Mind (www.bodyinmind.org).
